It all begins with an idea.
Shayan Kalantar
is an is an American-Iranian, Los Angeles-based designer and composer with an analytical eye (and ear) for absorbing the world around him. After exploring early interests in the fields of Math, Physics, and later Biology and Chemistry, he had begun to understand valuable perspectives which would lead him to where he is today: finding and solving problems he’s passionate about, and creating art which is truly meaningful to him along the way.
Shayan’s musical style and activity is reflective of a passionate and motivated individual attempting to find his/her unique path within this modern world of endless possibilities. Admitted to UC San Diego for Neuroscience and graduating with a degree in Music Composition with honors and distinction, he was able to take his interests wherever his heart desired using UCSD’s facilities and inspiring department faculty. During his time there, he continued his work studying classical music composition and performance, and branched out into the fields of acoustics/psychoacoustics, human-oriented and graphic design, traditional Persian music, contemporary composition, and electronic music and the recording arts. With projects constantly in development spanning the genres of jazz, field recording, improvisation, spoken word, soundscape, classical, and many more which cannot be effectively described, Shayan’s broad understanding and refined taste ensures that his contributions are always held to the highest standard possible: his own.

In my free time, I enjoy active hobbies with my friends like rock climbing, running, and soccer. I’m also lucky to be able to spend a lot of time with my large and loving family, who live mostly in San Diego as well. I’m a huge cat-lover, with two cats named Milo and Lily, but I also love dogs and other animals/pets too.
I also frequently spend time in nature hiking or camping, usually taking the opportunities to grab field recordings of the places I visit.
